Odisha CM wrote a letter to the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment for restore the funding pattern of post-matric scholarship

Bhubaneswar:19/11/18:Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik wrote a letter to the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot to personally intervene to restore the funding pattern of post-matric scholarship for Scheduled Caste students to 90:10 ratios for smoother implementation of the scheme which benefits about two lakh students. He said that until 2016-17, Union Ministry for Social Justice & Empowerment was bearing 90% of the cost which has been changed from 2017-18 onwards. He stressed that  Odisha gives highest priority to provide quality education to weaker section of the society, especially for SC and ST students, and the abrupt change in the funding pattern would be a big jolt to the scholarship programme for SC students if state’s liability is increased to 80%.
