BJD Supremo Naveen Pattnaik flagging off the Jana Sampark Padayatra

During his address Patnaik said, “An empty vessel makes the most noise. The BJP in its poll manifesto had promised to accord Special Category State status to Odisha but nothing has been done in this regard till yet. People of the State are still waiting for fulfillment of the promise.”

Patnaik said, “The people of my state know very well who has fulfilled the promise. The promises that my government made to the people have been fulfilled.

The Chief Minister further elaborated that the State Government was forced to bring its own food security scheme Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) as the Centre’s National Food Security Act (NFSA) left out lakhs of deserving beneficiaries.

It may be mentioned here that, during the BJD’s month-long Jana Sampark Padayatra the party workers and leaders would reach out to the people and sensitise them about several welfare schemes of the state government like Ama Gaon Ama Vikash, Ama Sahara Ama Unnati, BSKY, Mission Shakti, provision of loan @ 1 per cent for women, farmers and students, formation of Special Development Council for the Scheduled Tribe community and land ownership rights to the urban slum dwellers.
