Bhubaneswar: 18/9/18:Puri police on Monday sealed a helicopter belonged to expelled BJD Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here. The hanger belonging to IMFA which houses the helicopter (VT-BDP) has also been sealed.A case has been registered against Panda. The police also wrote to the director general of civil aviation to cancel Panda’s license. The case which was registered at Puri Marine police has provision for non-bailable warrant. The offense invites a jail term from six months to five years.The case at the Marine police was registered following the complaint of Chilika Development Authority (CDA) ACF Binod Acharya. According to the complaint, a chopper made landing with loud noise between Rajhans and Arakhapur of Chilika on September 15. However, some eyewitnesses assumed it to be a seaplane. Later, the CDA had lodged a complaint with Arakhakud Marine police station in this regard.On the basis of the complaint, the marine police sealed the hanger belongs to IMFA. The police have also sought a report from Airport Authority of India (AAI) for the black box data to find out the details of the flight profile.
