Nitin Gadkari has approved the construction of the much-awaited Vehicular Under Pass at Sikharpur

Cuttack:8/9/18: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved the construction of the much-awaited Vehicular Under Pass (VUP) at Sikharpur Traffic Square in Cuttack.

In a letter to Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Gadkari stated that the proposal for construction of VUP at Sikharpur Square in Chandikhole—Jagatpur—Bhubaneswar Section of National Highway 16 has been approved.

“Bids were invited on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode to execute the work. Two bidders have participated in the bid. The bids are under evaluation for the award of work. The work is targeted to be completed in 18 months from commencement date after award,” the letter added.

Earlier, Mahtab had requested Gadkari to issue necessary directions to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to commence construction of the VUP at Sikharpur.

In a letter to Gadkari on March 16, 2018, Mahtab stated that he had earlier racked up the issue with the union minister after meeting him in his office and presented the proposal in the Lok Sabha following the petition of the Senior Citizen Association of Sikharpur.
