Odisha Police has asked the railway authorities to install CCTV cameras and baggage scanner in important Railway stations

Bhubaneswar:21/6/18; Odisha Police has asked the railway authorities to install CCTV cameras and baggage scanner in important railway stations in the state as well as in selected trains, a senior police officer said today.

The railways were also requested to check the functioning of the installed CCTV cameras and baggage scanner periodically, said DGP R P Sharma.

The DGP presided over the 3rd meeting of state level security committee for railways held here yesterday which was attended by senior police and railway officials.

Discussions was held regarding law and order situation, crime scenario, sabotage, disaster management, Left Wing Extremist activities, safety and security of railway properties and passengers and other relevant issues relating to security of railways in the meeting, he said.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) was also asked to register criminal case whenever there had been a rail roko agitation and take appropriate legal actions in the matter.

Sharma said emphasis was given on the formation of encroachment removal committee, headed by the concerned range IGP/DIG where RPF, representatives of DRM, Collector, concerned SP, and SRP Cuttack/Rourkela will be members.

It was decided that steps will be taken for prompt registration of criminal cases whenever reported by the passengers at the Government Railway Police (GRP) police station other than the place of occurrence and the same will be immediately transferred to the concerned GRP police station directly, so that investigation can start without further delay, Sharma said.

Various other issues like sharing of intelligence among RPF, GRP and intelligence wing and others were also discussed in the meeting, the DGP added.
