Kandhamal:28/3/18: A young doctor, Yajnadutta Rath, has set another example of humanity by assisting an expectant mother for delivery reaching dense forest in time in Kandhamal, tribal district of Odisha.

According to reports, Dr Rath trekked a mountain on his feet after receiving information about a pregnant woman suffering from labour pain at Palam forest under Tumudibandh block in the district.

He helped the woman, identified as Satadadu Rait, the wife of Pramod Rait of Palam village, in the forest for delivery and brought the woman and her newborn safely to the Tumudibandh Community Health Centre for treatment. Both the mother and the baby girl are stated to be stable.

The locals expressed gratitude to the doctor for his service and praises poured for him following the incident.
