Jindal Steel & Power Ltd has been conferred with Odisha Inc CSR Leadership Award

Mr. Naveen Jindal led Jindal Steel & Power Ltd, which has invested about Rs. 45000 Crore Rupees in Odisha has been conferred with Odisha Inc CSR Leadership Award for its outstanding work in implementing social development initiatives under the Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. JSPL’s Executive Vice President & Group Head (CSR & Education) Mr. Prashant Kumar Hota received the award from renowned journalist Mr. Vinod Dua and prominent poet Mr. KN Daruwalla during Odisha Living Legend Award Ceremony organized by leading web news portal OrissaDiary.com on December 23, 2017 at Bhubaneswar.

Receiving the award, Mr. Hota thanked the jury members as well as the People of Odisha for the award. “As envisioned by our Chairman Sri Naveen Jindal Ji, JSPL is fully committed in improving the Quality of Life of the local community on a holistic basis.  JSPL Foundation, led by Smt Shallu Jindal Ji has been forging project partnerships with the Community and collaborating with the Govt Agencies to execute multi dimensional  sustainable social development projects focused upon the socially vulnerable and the under privileged especially in and around JSPL’s operational areas as well as across the concerned districts,” Mr. Hota Said.

JSPL is one of the biggest investors in Odisha and has built the largest steel plant of the state at Angul and India’s biggest iron ore palletisation complex at Barbil, Keonjhar.  The Company has initiated several programmes for supporting socio-economic, educational and health development of people in Odisha.  It has successfully partnered with government, civil society and community to bring positives changes in lives of more than 100000 people in 80 villages in the State, especially in Angul, Keonjhar and Sundergarh districts. All the CSR interventions in project mode are being steered by JSPL Foundation, under the leadership of Smt. Shallu Jindal.

Some of the major CSR programmes by JSPL in Odisha are Kishori Express for addressing the problem of anaemia amongst 25000  adolescent girls in 324  revenue villages, Telemedicine Centre to facilitate affordable and accessible quality healthcare services, community plantation and creation of more than 100 water harvesting structures, Pre-School and School Education, Scholarship support for meritorious students, Support for Community Teacher to improve quality of education, Providing Food and Nutrition support to more than  1000 tribal students, Watershed Development programme, in partnership with NABARD – first of its kind in Odisha over a catchment of about 4000 acres, Community  Infrastructure building to improve public convenience, Promotion of Rural Sports and Culture, Construction of 250 Bedded Hostel at Bonai for Tribal Girl Children, Women Empowerment through promotion of farm and non-farm based   Micro enterprises  promotion, Supporting Swachh Bharat Programme, Enriching national skill pool through OP Jindal Community College and Control of HIV with more than 2 lakh persons volunteering for HIV tests  through its Integrated Council and Testing Centre (ICTC).
