Naveen Patnaik flagged off 24 additional ambulances under 108 Service

Bhubaneswar:23/12/17;Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik flagged off 24 additional ambulances under 108 Service, further enhancing its coverage, especially in tribal districts. Highlights from his address at the event:

• State Government has provided for upgradation of 28 BLS ambulances to ALS form its own fund. Budget provision of ₹90Cr over a period of five years for the additional ambulances.

• 108 Emergency Medical Ambulance Service has fleet of 420 vehicles covering all 30 districts, providing free emergency medical service to the people. It has 364 ‘Basic Life Support’ and 56 ‘Advanced Life Support’ ambulances.
• Fleet of 500 ambulances under 102 Ambulance Service dedicated for transportation of pregnant mothers and sick infants

Chief Minister Shri Patnaik stated that over 31 lakh people in the state have benefited from the ambulance service and it has been instrumental in significant reductions in Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Rate in Odisha.
