Gayatri Saraf and Suryamani Khuntia have been selected to receive the prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award-

Bhubaneswar:21/12/17; Gayatri Saraf’s ‘Itabhatira Silpi’ and Suryamani Khuntia’s ‘Juganta’ have been selected to receive the prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award-2017.

The two Odia litterateurs will be conferred for their outstanding literary works.

Saraf will get the award for her short story collection (Itabhatira Silpi), Khuntia will receive for his translation work (Juganta) by the Akademi for the current year.

Gayatri Saraf (born 17th of August 1952) started her literary career in 1988 with her first book of short stories.

She has to her credit five books of short stories namely: Alokita Andhar (1988), Ainar Janhan (1995), Nijaswa Basanta (1996), Premika Pari Kehi Jane (1998), Bapa Bhala Acchanii (2003).

A decision in this regard was taken by the Executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi at its meeting on Thursday.
