Bhubaneswar:17/12/17;Senior media person, an affable and thinking gentleman Gopal Krushna Mishra breathed his last on 15 Dec. 2017. He suffered a cardiac arrest. He left behind his wife Prof. Manorama Rath, who taught history in Rama Devi Woman’s College, a son and a daughter.
Gopal Mishra started his career in Junior Financial Service under Govt of Odisha. He resigned and worked as the Administrator of Jagannath Ballav Math of Puri, because of his love for religion and culture. But finally he had to choose journalism as his profession.
Most of his journalistic works were on National and International Politics. He also wrote extensively art, literature, culture, religion and tradition. His memory was also very sharp and was a store house of knowledge for which his friends used to call him a ‘living encyclopedia’.
He left Sambad and for some months worked in Samaya. After few year he had left Samaya and was freelancing. He was a regular contributor to Sambad, Dharitri, Samaya, Prajatanatra and many other publications. Many of his friends used to call him ‘poor men’s I.K. Gujral’. He used to take it sportively and smile.
