Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House till Monday

Bhubaneswar:1/12/17:OdishaAssembly got crippled by the plaguing issue of frequent power cuts in the State while Zero Hour witnessed uproar over the piquant issue of violence against women following which the House had to be initially adjourned for 15 minutes.

Later on it was adjourned for the day as both BJD and Congress legislators demanded it so that all the members of the House could grace the inaugural ceremony of World Hockey League 2017 here.

Eventually, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House till Monday.

Soon after the House assembled on Friday and the initial Question Hour began, both the opposition and even ruling BJD members expressed grave concerns over frequent power cuts in Odisha.

In his reply, Energy Minister Prafulla Mallick said that maintenance work and shortage of coal have resulted in the power cuts and assured that the issue would be resolved very soon. As the Question Hour was dominated by the power cuts issue, Zero Hour witnessed more heat over the issue of rising violence against women in Odisha.
