Odisha will conduct the Measles Rubella vaccination campaign in January

Bhubaneswar:24/11/17; Odisha will conduct the Measles Rubella vaccination campaign in January next in line with the National target of Measles elimination and Rubella Control by 2020.

It will be a mass vaccination campaign, the likes of which has never been conducted in the State, and will target children from 9 months to less than 15 years of age. For the campaign to be successful, each district and urban area must achieve a coverage of 100% of its target and a minimum of 95% post coverage evaluation survey, said Pramod Kumar Meherda, secretary health.

The campaign will be of a 5 week period with the 1st two weeks’ sessions will be taken up in all the schools of the State (both Govt. and Private), the next 2 weeks of sessions will be taken up in the community i.e. at the Anganwadi Centers & Health Institutions, and the final week has been kept for carrying out catch up immunization of children who could not be vaccinated during first 4 weeks.
