Orissa High Court sought a report from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) after photos of repair work of Jagamohan, the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum of the 12th century shrine, were found posted on social media.
While hearing a petition on Jagamohan repair, the high court asked the temple administration to submit the report by December 6 after a thorough inquiry.
Meanwhile, the SJTA has written a letter to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) asking it to explain under what circumstances the photos found their way to social media.
Pradeep Kumar Jena, SJTA chief administrator, said, “To ensure that such incidents are not repeated, the temple administration has asked ASI to submit an undertaking saying that their personnel cannot leak any information outside other than ASI and SJTA.” Yesterday, the Justice BP Das Commission of Inquiry for Reforms in Srimandir sought a report on the issue from the Law secretary, Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri Collector and SP.
The commission directed the authorities to submit a detailed report in connection with the incident within 10 days.
According to reports, the pictures are believed to have been taken during a scientific investigation inside the Jagamohan and the sanctum sanctorum of Srimandir during Rath Yatra this year.
