Ashayen celebrated Children’s Day with Street Children in Sishu Mauja-2017

 

Bhubaneswar:15/11/17;On the eve of Children’s Day voluntary youth forum named Ashayen in association with Jai Odisha celebrated the eve with the street children of Bhubaneswar for first time to their life experience. This programme called Sishu Mauja-2017 happened for three days from 12th-14th November at different places with multiple activities at different places. Children from different places of Bhubaneswar who are doing hazardous work for living like rag picking, child labour etc. were taken together to enjoy their childhood. In the first day there was a sports event organised in Unit-6 Athletic Association ground where children took part in the competitions like racing, frog jumping, basket ball, discuss through. Though they were not having sports shoes or dress but they enjoyed the event with full joy. Guests like Odia Comedian Actor Harihar Mahapatra, Sangram Paikray, Rudra Samantaray, Satyabrata Mohanty, Nibedita Acharya, Harsimran Singh, Ashis Bebarta had joined to encourage the children and distributed prizes. In the second day the programme was organised in Lifeline club ground where activities like Drawing, Jhoti, Puchi, Thia Puchi, Music Chair and Quiz were organised for children. Awareness session on Health and Hygiene and Safe Touch were taken with interactive way by the representatives of Lions Club Ms. Aasha Sarangi and Sarita Behera. Documentary film on Child Issues was also screened for children. Eminent Gandhian Prahallad Sinha joined the programme and distributed the prizes to children. Third day was more interesting where a team of 22 members of both children and volunteers got the chance to meet the Honourable Governor Shri S.C. Jamir and interacted with him. Ashayen members explained the issue of street children in Bhubaneswar. His Excellency had paid his concern for these category of children and personally gave advise to the children.  After that children visited Science park, Pathani Samanta Planetorium and Regional History Museum. They also celebrated Children’s day by cutting cake and distributing Sweets among each other. This programme were supported by likeminded ondividuals, well wishers and supporters like Lions Club, We 4 You, Food Court, Ambika Foundation. Worth to mention that Ashayen is an innovative initiative by the young volunteers from different professions united for the cause of empowering street children. For last three years all the volunteers working together to indulge value addition to the life of street children through innovative activities in regular basis under the Youth Collective named Ashayen. They have taken up these activities to create a new sensation of inspiration to the younger generation through volunteering.
