Bhubaneswar:6/10/17; Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar today informed mediapersons that Class X exams to be reintroduced again as part of the ongoing reforms in the country’s education system.
Besides, Javadekar also said that the earlier model of pass-fail system for Class V and Class VIII will also be reintroduced.
Javadekar informed this to reporters while addressing a press conference in Odisha’s Puri.
Javadekar also informed that 15 lakh BEd teachers have registered under the Swayam programme in which they would be given proper training.
He said, “Class X board examinations will be reintroduced. It has also been decided to conduct examinations in classes V and VIII. Schools can also detain students who fail in the end-term exams in these classes.”
“However, the students will be allowed to improve and appear for another exam before being detained,” he added.
Presently, students until Class VIII are promoted to the next class irrespective of their performance.
25 States have approved the move of the Union Government through a bill which has been placed in the Lok Sabha, Javadekar said.
