Bhubaneswar:16/9/17; The BJD on Friday announced to hold demonstrations across the State to protest the hike in fuel prices by the Central Government.
Addressing a Press conference here, BJD general secretary Sanjay Dasburma said the party’s frontal organisations, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) and Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) would hold demonstrations at all block headquarters from Monday next. The agitation would continue till the fuel price hike is rolled back.
Dasburma said though the price of crude oil per barrel has come down significantly, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased by the Centre, which has hit the common man hard.
BJD vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra said the increase in the fuel prices would lead to increase in transportation costs. This would escalate the price of essential commodities. Among others, MLAs Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Arun Sahoo were present.
