Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a mass protest at Mahatma Gandhi Marg

Bhubaneswar:16/9/17: Upset with the apathetic attitude of the state government, which had recently promised action on their demands, thousands of Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a mass protest at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Thursday.

“We had staged a similar demonstration at the same venue on September 8 to press for our demands and later withdrew it following assurance from the state government that our concerns would be addressed. However, the government took no step thereafter, forcing us to relaunch the protest”, a protestor alleged.

Some of the major demands of the agitators include a better pay package, a minimum monthly salary of Rs 18,000 and other benefits.
