Bhubaneswar:10/9/17: Odisha government today placed under suspension two engineers of Public Works Department (PWD) on negligence of duty in connection with Bomikhal flyover cave-in incident which has accounted for one human causality so far.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who heads the PWD department, ordered the suspension of deputy executive engineer Banshidhar Praharaj and Assistant Engineer Kishore Rout.
A high-level probe headed by chief engineer (Roads) and chief minister (design) has been constituted. Exemplary action would be initiated against the department engineers on the basis of probe report, Patnaik said adding that deceased’s next kin has been extended Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia by the state government . The entire cost of the treatment of the injured is being borne by the government, he added.
