Orissa High Court ordered crime branch of state police to submit report on unlawful appointment in CMC

Cuttack:4/9/17:Orissa High Court today asked the crime branch of state police to submit report investigation report in connection with the unlawful appointment of 274 employees in the millennium city’s civic body.

The job scam had rocked the CMC after it had to light in 2003 when the civic administration had stumbled upon at least 144 employees drawing salaries since 1998 without valid appointment. Later more skeletons tumbled down with the number of fake employees shooting up to 274. The fake appointments were in the categories of sweepers, road gang, drain gang, de-weeding coolies and teachers.

The matter had come up before the high court by way of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). Subsequently the crime branch wing of state police had probed into the job scam.
