Puri district administration has initiated the process to evict Dera Sacha Sauda ashram from government land

Puri:31/8/17 The district administration has initiated the process to evict now jailed Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s Dera Sacha Sauda ashram from government land encroached by it on the outskirts of Odisha’s  pilgrim town Puri.

According to Puri Sub Collector Madhusudan Das, the ashram located at Beleswarpatna in Beladala mouza has encroached 12 decimals of government land and eviction notice will be soon served on the ashram for vacating the encroached government land.

Sources said a portion of the restaurant in front of the ashram and the boundary wall on the back side has been constructed on encroached government land.

Earlier, on Tuesday a five-member team of Revenue Department officials led by Puri Tehsildar Prabir Khillar had measured the ashram’s land and conducted an inquiry on orders of the District Collector following allegations about encroachment of government land by the ashram.
