Odiaha government enhanced the categories of medicine procurement under Niramaya

Bhubaneswar:28/8/17: Odiaha government today enhanced the categories of medicine procurement under Niramaya scheme to 558 for 2017-18 fiscal year. Earlier 499 categories of medicines were approved for distribution to people under the scheme.

Reviewing the activities of the Odisha State Medical Corporation, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed to ensure adequate supply of the medicines at hospitals stores without fail. Sri Padhi also directed to keep track whether the medicines are actually being prescribed and issued to the patients. Chief Secretary made it categorically clear that there should never be a ‘stock out position’ for 117 types of fast moving and more demanded medicines.

Participating in discussion, Development Commissioner Sri R.Balakrishnan advised to have a dedicated team for interaction with patients at ground zero level for assessing their requirements and satisfaction heights. The system of developing a system of ‘social watch’ through third party team having missionary zeal in the matter was also suggested in the meeting.

Chief Secretary Sri Padhi directed Secretary Health and Family Welfare Sri Pramod Meherda  present in the meeting to keep track whether the medicines supplied were being prescribed by the doctors and were actually being  distributed  to the patients through close supervision and monitoring. Chief Secretary further directed to popularize a telephone number for complain by people when they did not get required medicine from the hospital stores. It was decided to undertake wide awareness activities about the effectiveness and quality of medicines being supplied under Niramaya.
