Block Grant school and college teachers of western Odisha celebrated their Nuakhai festival at their dharna site

Bhubaneswar: 27/8/17:The Block Grant (BG) school and college teachers of western Odisha celebrated their Nuakhai festival at their dharna site at Gandhi Marg here on Saturday, the eleventh day of the BG teachers’ agitation.

Offering Prasad to goddess Samaleswari, they celebrated Nuakhai along with their colleagues from other parts of the State.

With the teachers’ meeting with State Government officials ending without any results on Thursday, they were left with no choice but to observe the festival on the road, they said.

The Government is yet to take a decision on the teachers’ 11-point charter of demands including abolition of the Block Grant system, equal salary for equal work, salaries as per 7th Pay Commission recommendations, provision of full aid and Government takeover of all aided schools.

Earlier, the teachers had also celebrated Ganesh Puja on Friday at their dharna site.
