UPA’s Vice Presidential candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi will call on BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab

New Delhi:31/7/17: UPA’s Vice Presidential candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi will call on BJD MPs on Tuesday in New Delhi and would request them to extend their support in his favour during the Vice Presidential election on August 5.

Gandhi is supposed to meet the BJD Parliamentians at MP Bhartruhari Mahtab’s residence here and will have his lunch there as per the schedule.

The ruling BJD has asked its MPs to remain present during the meeting with Gandhi at New Delhi and pledge their support for the UPA’s VP candidate.

While on one hand the BJD had pledged its support for NDA Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind in the recently concluded Presidential poll but this time the regional party decided to support the opposition’s pick by announcing to support Gopalkrishna Gandhi.

Earlier BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had declared about his party’s support to Gandhi who was unanimously selected by the UPA against the ruling NDA’s nominee Venkaiah Naidu.
