President of India Inaugurates 7th Edition of KKM Memorial Gold Cup – Rural Football Tournament

WetBengal:14/7/17:The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 7th Edition of Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee Rural Football Tournament at Mackenzie Park Football Ground in Murshidabad district of West Bengal today (July 14, 2017).

The President witnessed an exhibition match between Mohun Bagan U-19 and Kingfisher East Bengal U-19. Mohun Bagan won the match by 1-0. The President greeted the players of both the teams and presented awards.

Speaking after the match, the President said that football is a popular game in the country particularly in rural areas. He emphasized that football matches at local levels must be held regularly to find talented players. There are football grounds in every village and players are very enthusiastic to play the game of football. Therefore, we must pay attention to promote it so that our players can move forward to find a place at the national level.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Shri Abhijit Mukherjee, MP (Lok Sabha) and President, Organizing Committee, KKM Gold Cup Rural Football; Shri Srenik Sett, Chairman, All Sports Foundation and Members of Legislative Assembly of West Bengal Shri Abu Hena, Shri Asish Marjit, Shri Akhruzzaman and Shri Samar Mukherjee.
