Farmers’ wing of ruling Biju Janata Dal in a novel protest

Bhawanipatana:13/7/17: The farmers’ wing of ruling Biju Janata Dal today rose in a novel protest by mobilizing farmers to the streets with bullock ploughs, tractors, power tillers and other agriculture implements.

The protesters led by local MLA Anam Naik charged that the union government of relegating the larger interest of farming community to the rear. The agitators demanded further enhancement of the minimum support price (MSP) on paddy to Rs 2,930 per quintal.

BJD Party workers strongly protested the BJP-led NDA governments decision to increase MSP for paddy by a just Rs 80 per quintal for the financial year 2017-18 and presented a memorandum to the local authorities.
