Odisha Swift Action Force a special wing of State police launched

Bhubaneswar23/6/17;: Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAF), a special wing of State police, was launched today. Three companies have been formed in the first phase that will start functioning from Rath Yatra, starting June 25 at Puri.

The force comprises of more than 300 selected police personnel from various sections of Odisha police. They had been sent to Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to receive special training under the Rapid Action Force (RAF). The prime job of the OSAF will be to manage crowd during major festivals and combat crisis situations arising from riots and terror strikes. They have been provided with special combat weapons and separate uniform.
