Bhubaneswar:21/6/17; The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today booked the Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Goa Barada Kanta Mishra, who was formerly Director of the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) in Odisha capital for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Mishra is accused of graft during his stint at the IMMT in Bhubaneswar as its Director. He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, CBI sources revealed.

Earlier in the day, the central investigation agency raided Mishra’s residence in Goa, his paternal house at Surya Nagar and his house near Jayadev Vatika in Khandagiri locality here which he has rented out. The agency also raided his former office at IMMT here.

During the raids, the CBI is learned to have traced disproportionate assets accumulating to the tune of Rs 1.14 crore.

CBI sources revealed that they have clinched evidence of his involvement in corruption during his stint as the Director of IMMT.

According to CBI sources, Mishra’s properties were worth Rs 3.48 lakh in 2006 and in 2016 his properties value stood at Rs 2.19 crore.
