Eleven to be sworn-in Navin cabinet on Sunday

Bhubaneswar:6/5/17:Ten Odisha ministers on Saturday resigned to pave the way for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to reshuffle his three-year-old ministry.

The ministers who resigned are: Pradip Kumar Amat, Debi Prasad Mishsra, Lal Behari Himirika, Jogendra Behera, Pushpendra Singhdeo (all cabinet rank), Arun Kumar Sahoo, Sanjay Dasburma, Sudam Marndi, Pranab Prakash Das and Pradeep Panigrahi (all MoS, Independent charge).The ministers tendered their resignation ahead of the reshuffle, the first since Patnaik took over office for the fourth term in 2014, which is expected to take place tomorrow.

Meanwhile, 11 persons are likely to be inducted into the council of ministers in the swearing-in ceremony slated to be held at Raj Bhawan tomorrow, official sources said. Those who are expected to find ministerial berths are SN Patro, Maheswar Mohanty, Pratap Jena, Niranjan Pujari, Sashi Bhushan Behera, Sushant Singh, Bijay Naik, Prafulla Samal, Nrusingha Sahu, Anant Das and Chandra Sarathi Behera.While 6 have been given cabinet rank, 5 were inducted as Ministers of State rank.

Niranjan Pujari who resigned as speaker of Odisha Assembly yesterday was brought into the ministry as a cabinet minister along with Bhandaripokhari MLA Prafulla Samal, Surya Narayan Patro, Mahanga MLA Pratap Jena, Puri MLA Maheswar Mohanty and Jayadev MLA Sasibhushan Behera.

Karanjia MLA Bijay Nayak, Bhatli MLA Sushant Singh, Parjang MLA Nrusingha Sahoo, Bhograi MLA and party chief whip Anant Das and Cuttack Sadar MLA Chandrasarathi Behera were given Minister of State ranks in the Naveen cabinet.

Ministers Prafulla Mallick, Ramesh Majhi were also promoted to Cabinet rank.

According to sources, the oath taking ceremony is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 9.10 AM at the Raj Bhawan.

From among the 11 new faces, as many as six are set to become ministers for the first time. Those making debut into the ministry are Sashi Bhushan Behera, Sushant Singh, Bijay Naik, Nrusingha Sahu, Anant Das and Chandra Sarathi Behera.
