Bhubaneswar:5/5/17; Expressing his anguish over missing of Odia language on kilometer stones and information boards on national highways in the state, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday asked the Centre to write in Odia on milestones for the benefit of common people.
Patnaik wrote to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari seeking his intervention to instruct the authorities implement the guidelines.
Besides, there is a perceptible lack of destination and place identification boards inscribed in Odia script on the National Highways causing much inconvenience to the public at large, he added.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry on December 24, 2004, all information boards should invariably be inscribed in three scripts namely local, Devnagri and Roman and local language should be used in every kilometer stone in isolation on every second and fourth kilometer stones.
