Sadhu Meher, Aruna Mohanty, Singer Harpal Among Padma Awardees

: Noted film actor and director Sadhu Meher, eminent doctor Dr Mukut Minz from Chanigarh, renowned Sambalpuri folk singer Jitendra Haripal and famous Odissi dancer Aruna Mohanty has comprised in the list of Padma awardees, which was announced today by the Government of India on the eve of Republic Day. He is an eminent actor of Indian parallel cinema in mid 1980s.His directial debut Aviman was a mile stone in Odia Cinema,he had remarkable contribution for hindi an Bengali cinema.
Dr Mukut Minz, who is working as the HOD of Renal Transplant Surgery at Mohali-based Fortis Hospital, has been serving people for more than 30 years after passing out the MBBS degree from Burla medical college in 1976. Dr Minz got a wide media coverage recently when he successfully undertook a kidney transplant surgery on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Dr Minz commented, “. I thank the Government of India as well as the Odisha government for choosing me to get the award.”
The Government of India also named Jitendra Haripal to receive the Padma Shri award. Harpal is the singer of Rangabati song which has been one of the popular songs in the country till date.
