State Election Commission Announces Schedule For Panchayat Polls

Bhubaneswar: : ONT Bureau Jan 07, 2017 The State Election Commission (SEC) today announced the schedule for the ensuing Panchayat polls in Odisha beginning from February 13.
Giving details to the media, SEC secretary Rabindra Sahu said the elections will be conducted in five phases in 852 Zilla Parishad Zones of 314 blocks.
Polling would be held in 189 Zilla Parishad Zones of 65 Blocks in the first phase on February 13 while in the second phase polling on February 15, polling will be held in 175 Zilla Parishad zones of 65 blocks.
The third phase polling would begin on February 17 in which polling will be held in 175 Zilla Parishad zones of 65 blocks while in the fourth phase polling on February 19, polling will be held in 162 Zilla Parishad zones of 62 blocks.
In the fifth and final phase polling, polling will be held in 151 Zilla Parishad zones of 59 blocks, Sahu added.
