MUMBAI: After the success of her bestseller ‘Mrs Funnybones’, Twinkle Khanna is back with her second book ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’. The former actress had presented the first copy to childhood friend Karan Johar on his chat show where she appeared with her actor-husband Akshay Kumar in rib-tickling episode. Karan went on to host the book launch, which was held on Tuesday evening in Mumbai.
The event was a starry affair with the man of the moment, Ranbir Kapoor and B-town’s current sweetheart Alia Bhatt in attendance. The two actors even took to the stage to read out excerpts from different chapters of the novel. Shabana Azmi, Sonali Bendre, director Abhishek Kapoor and Farah Khan Ali also came to root for the interior designer-turned-author. Not to forget, Akshay Kumar was every bit the supportive husband as he stood by Twinkle’s side on her big day. While Dimple Kapadia beamed like a proud mother, Twinkle’s son Aarav even posed with her for the shutterbugs.
Of course, the highlight of the evening was Twinkle herself. She brought the house down with her one-liners and witty replies. When asked about feminism, Twinkle said, “Journalists ask me ‘Are you a..a..a feminist?’ like they are asking if I’m a Satanist or a Justin Bieber fan. Feminism is about equal opportunities, so anyone who says they aren’t a feminist is an idiot.” She went on to add, “Women are trying very hard to find their place in the world, but unfortunately men have the keys, they locked us in the cage and now we are now finding ways to be loud.”
