Mahatma Gandhi Worshiped In Temples

Dhenkanal : 25/6/18;People in two places of Odisha continue to treasure the memory of father of the nation by building temples of Mahatma and offering puja to the apostle of peace every day.

The apostle of peace is deified and is worshiped like God in these two temples. The Harijanpada locality in Sambalpur Township and Kamakshyanagar in Dhenkanal district lay claim to fame for worshipping Bapu in the temple named after him.

For a casual visitor, it’s refreshing sight to watch Mahatma being idolized and worshiped amid chanting of Ramdhun and Bhagabat Gita.

People cutting across caste, creed and age barrier visit the Gandhi Temple and pay tribute to the father of the nation. I feel proud for donning the mantle of priest of the temple, Purindar Churiya, the temple priest, who is a dailt.
